Job Summary

The Universal Banker at BHM Bank serves as a front-line representative and is responsible for providing superior customer service, conducting banking transactions, and promoting bank products and services. This role blends the traditional responsibilities of a teller with those of a personal banker. 

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Provide exceptional service to bank customers in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.

  • Open and maintain consumer and small business accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, and IRAs.

  • Educate customers about bank products, services, and digital tools.

  • Identify and act on cross-sell and referral opportunities.

Teller Transactions

  • Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and other teller transactions accurately.

  • Maintain and balance the cash drawer daily within established limits.

  • Ensure compliance with BSA/AML and other regulatory standards.

 

Operational Duties

  • Ensure compliance with BHM Bank.

  • Perform ATM balancing, vault duties, night drop procedures, and internal audits as required.

  • Maintain security and confidentiality of customer and bank information.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in banking, customer service, or cash-handling roles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to meet sales goals and service expectations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and core banking systems.
